Tiffany style chandeliers utilize the famous types and styles of glass developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early part of the twentieth century. (not to be confused with Charles Tiffany who founded Tiffany & Co).
Tiffany invented various styles of glass..in fact almost ten. But it is the style of coloring for which he was most renowned.
He was inspired by viewing medievel glass in museums such as the type we see in churches. As an interior designer he wished to have this variety of colors and style for peoples homes, but was dissatisfied with the quality of modern glass…so he invented what he wanted.
His style of coloring is unmistakable and hasn’t gone out of fashion in over a century. In fact creative designers find new ways to use his glass in homes…and in fixtures such as chandeliers. (bronze chandeliers with Tiffany glass go well together.) The publics hunger for items with this particular style have only grown.
